Balancing Living & Working From Home
Due to the reality of Covid-19 we have all experienced working from home and what it’s like to balance living and working in the same space. Not all homes are equipped with working desks for all members of the household and not all people choose to work at a desk. I want to tackle the couch worker and balancing comfortably working with privacy and personal space. The goal is to create a non-specific living room so you can customize your work space easily for multiple members of the household at multiple times of the day. Finding the balance between privacy, comfort and normality while working from home.
Soft work goes from clock in to clock out by having the option of multiple work encouraging positions or the capability to be converted to a classic love seat style sofa. Its accompanying flat surface has two shelves both bring their own use benefits and quick storage.
Frame & Textile
Soft Work is made up of three components that can be organized to support varying positions of work. It can provide privacy amongst multiple workers or help a single mix up positions during the day.
What wraps this whole piece together is its use of this unstructured textile. This draping effect contributes to the seats feeling like a completed space, its soft edges are non-restricting to different body positions, helping with hours of being confined to one location. Made from organic Cotton Twill fabric and hand stitched tufts.
